.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 115 PM CDT Fri Aug 16 2024

The primary long wave trof with its low pressure center makes
its way across the Great Lakes as we head into the weekend. It
eventually drags with it a cold front, which will not fully
complete its passage here until the end of the weekend. Until
then, there is enough warmth/humidity and during peak heating,
enough instability, for scattered thunderstorms capable of heavy
rains. Isolated stronger storms may be capable of gusty winds,
particularly Saturday afternoon.

After the cold front`s passage, we`ll finally get a break from
the oppressive heat/humidity. 80s for highs and dew points
falling into the 50s will be the rule for much of the next work
week, a most pleasant respite from the end of this week.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z SATURDAY/...
Issued at 603 PM CDT Fri Aug 16 2024

Light winds overnight will become westerly and increase to
around 7-12 kts tomorrow, strongest for northern terminals.
There likely will be some gusts in the 15-20 kt range, mainly
for KEVV/KOWB/KMVN. Some locations will fall below their
crossover temperature tonight, allowing for some patchy fog to
develop, especially at fog prone locations. Any convection
tonight should stay southwest of the terminals, but there may be
some isolated activity tomorrow afternoon into the evening.
