Southeast Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A weak surface ridge will maintain gentle to
moderate winds and slight to moderate seas across most of the
basin into early next week. Otherwise, moderate to locally fresh
winds, and scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected
along the Yucatan Peninsula each evening through the period.

.OVERNIGHT...NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 ft or less.
.THU...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 ft or less.
.THU NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 ft or less. Scattered
showers and isolated tstms.
.FRI...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 ft or less, building to 3 ft
in the afternoon. Scattered showers and isolated tstms.
.FRI NIGHT...N to NE winds 5 to 10 kt, shifting to E 10 to 15 kt
after midnight. Seas 2 ft or less.
.SAT...E to SE winds 5 to 10 kt, shifting to N to NE in the
afternoon. Seas 2 ft or less.
.SAT NIGHT...NE to E winds less than 5 kt, shifting to SE after
midnight. Seas 2 ft or less.
.SUN...S winds less than 5 kt, shifting to NW in the afternoon.
Seas 2 ft or less.
.SUN NIGHT...E to SE winds less than 5 kt, shifting to S to SW
5 kt after midnight. Seas 2 ft or less.

Within 200 nm east of the coast of Florida

.SYNOPSIS...A weakening ridge from the central Atlantic W-SW to
the northern Bahamas will shift E and give way to Ernesto on
Thu. Hurricane Ernesto is near 23.0N 68.9W at 11 PM AST, moving
northwest at 14 kt. Maximum sustained winds are 70 kt with gusts
 to 85 kt, and the minimum central pressure is 982 mb. Ernesto
is  expected to turn toward the north-northwest then north
tonight through Thu morning as it continues to strengthen,
reaching near  24.7N 69.1W Thu morning, near 26.8N 68.6W Thu
evening, near 28.6N  67.4W Fri morning, then pass very near
Bermuda Sat morning. A weak frontal boundary extends from near
Bermuda to north-central  Florida and will drift southward
across the northwestern part of  the area, and stall to the NW
of Ernesto by Fri, producing  moderate to fresh NE winds behind
it. Large swell from Ernesto  will spread W of 75W late Thu
night through Sat morning.

15 kt N of 27N. Seas 2 ft or less. Scattered showers and isolated
tstms.
.THU...S of 27N, S winds less than 5 kt, shifting to NW in the
afternoon. N of 27N, N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft in E
swell. Scattered showers and isolated tstms.
.THU NIGHT...N to NE winds 5 to 10 kt S of 27N, and N to NE 15 to
20 kt N of 27N. Seas 4 to 6 ft in E swell. Scattered showers and
isolated tstms.
.FRI...N winds 5 to 10 kt S of 27N, and NE 10 to 15 kt N of 27N.
Seas 4 to 6 ft in E swell. Scattered showers and isolated tstms.
.FRI NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft.
.SAT...N to NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft.
.SAT NIGHT...NE to E winds 5 to 10 kt, shifting to SE to S after
midnight. Seas 3 to 5 ft in NE to E swell.
.SUN...S to SW winds less than 5 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft in NE to E
swell.
