.SYNOPSIS...A slowly weakening high pressure ridge will persist
from the northern Florida, Georgia, South Carolina coast
northeastward today into Sat night. Hurricane Ernesto located
about 320 NM SSW of Bermuda at 5 AM EDT will track towards the N
and NE into Sat while passing E of the waters. Ernesto will
continue to move off to the N and NE Sat night into early next
week while passing well to the NE of the area. Long period SE to
E swell from Ernesto will move N and W into the waters through
the weekend into Mon night. For more information on Ernesto
please see the latest advisory from the National Hurricane
Center. Otherwise, a cold front will approach from the W and NW
Sun into Sun night, reach the coast Mon, move E and SE over the
area Mon night into Tue, and then stall across the region Tue
night. The NAVTEX station in Chesapeake has been reported to be
inoperable.
