Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
517 AM PDT Thu Aug 15 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS
EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 624 AND 625...

...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible along and west of
the Cascades on Saturday...

...Critical conditions possible Saturday afternoon due to strong
south to southwest winds and low RH for portions of FWZ 625 and

.DISCUSSION...Another round of isolated to scattered thunderstorms
is expected this afternoon and evening, focused over northern
portions of Fire Weather Zones (FWZs) 624 and 625. Elsewhere, dry
conditions are expected through Friday with continued cooler than
normal temperatures, moderated humidities and gusty afternoon
winds. Expect some cumulus buildups along and east of the Cascades
on Friday with a small chance (5-10%) of a brief shower. A deep
upper low develops offshore over the weekend, maintaining cooler
than normal temperatures into next week. Confidence is increasing
for measurable precipitation (>=0.01") for much of the West Side
on Saturday, though thunderstorms are likely accompany the rain.
Additionally, strong south to southwest winds are expected east of
the Cascades, with critical conditions possible for much of FWZ
625 and portions of 285.
