Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
242 PM CDT Sat Jul 6 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Low fire weather concerns will be present today as appreciable
summertime moisture remains in place. Sunday, warmer than average
temperatures and min RH falling below critical 15% over Southeast
New Mexico plains along with gusty 20ft winds introduce some risk
of elevated fire weather conditions for this region. However,
RFTIs are expected to stay low, so this will limit risk. Monday
into next weekend, min RH above critical, good overnight recovery,
and continued light winds keep fire weather concerns low outside
of storms over the western higher terrain, which could pose a risk
of fire starts from lightning and gusty, erratic winds.
