.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1236 AM CDT Fri Jul 11 2025

H500 ridging persists across the SW and SE US at this time with a
continued weakness noted between the two areas across portions of
the Southern Plains/Lower MS River Valley. Another day of above
normal temperatures is expected across the state with afternoon
highs generally in the lower to mid 90s F. Will see Td values in
the 70s F with some drying into the 60s F possible by the mid-
afternoon hours. Some locations across eastern Arkansas could
approach heat advisory criteria, but lower Td values and
increasing cloud cover and isolated showers/storms may limit a
more widespread threat.

For this weekend, a mid-level trough will approach the area from
the northwest along with a cold front. This will lead to a
further increase in rain and thunderstorms, especially across
northern portions of the state. This will also lead to slightly
cooler temperatures across the N/NW. Rain chances will remain
fairly low across the S/SE and there could be some heat-related
concerns across those areas this weekend.

While it likely won`t remain completely dry across the area next
week, it does appear that H500 ridging will attempt to build over
the Lower MS River Valley northward toward the Great Lakes. This
could lead to an increase in daytime high temperatures into the
mid to upper 90s F. Widespread heat indices may climb above heat
advisory criteria next week. Precip will generally be limited to
afternoon, isolated diurnally driven activity.
