Weather Summary for Western and North Central Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
948 AM CDT Sun Aug 11 2024 /848 AM MDT Sun Aug 11 2024/

Southerly winds and thick cloud cover kept temperatures relatively
mild overnight in the mid to upper 50s. Scattered rain showers
also crossed the Sandhills and southwest Nebraska, resulting in
light amounts up to 0.10 inches.

Some breaks in the clouds are expected in far western Nebraska
today, which should allow temperatures to rebound to near 80. That
environment will also support thunderstorm development this
afternoon and evening, some of which may be severe with hail and
wind. East of Highway 83, clouds will likely hang on throughout
the day and limit highs to around 70.
