001 FXUS63 KIWX 200514 AFDIWX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Northern Indiana 114 AM EDT Sat Jul 20 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... -Dry conditions are expected through early Monday afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 70s and low to mid 80s through the week. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s. -A return to more active weather begins Monday afternoon and continues into Friday. The best chances for showers and thunderstorms will be Tuesday into Thursday. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 218 PM EDT Fri Jul 19 2024 Pleasant weather today through this weekend as high pressure controls the conditions. Things should stay dry with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s today through Sunday. With the clear skies tonight, light winds and cool overnight lows, decent evapotranspiration from crop cover, and dewpoints in the mid to upper 50s, patchy ground fog can again be expected Saturday morning. Cloud cover will then become more abundant Saturday night persisting into Sunday. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, mainly south of US 30 of about 20 percent, and increasing into Tuesday and Wednesday as a low pressure system makes its way south into Michigan. Wednesday has the best chance for storms due to warm air and moisture advection coming up from the southwest. Wind shear is only around 25 kts, so severe weather is not anticipated at this time. Models diverge on the track of the low Thursday, which will determine whether or not the local area continues to see convective activity, so have kept the chance PoPs from the NBM. Both the GFS and Canadian have high pressure moving over the area on Friday, which correlates with the slight chance to low chance in the forecast. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SUNDAY/...
