AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
139 PM EDT Sun Aug 11 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will persist across the region into the middle of
the week offering dry conditions.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Cumulus will persist through the afternoon. Forecast
temperatures are on track.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
Surface high pressure to build across the Ohio Valley tonight
into Monday. Diurnally driven cumulus clouds to dissipate this
evening leaving only some high level clouds. Cool overnight lows
to bottom out in the lower and middle 50s.

High pressure to continue to offer dry weather Monday with an
increase in mid and high clouds ahead of a shortwave and pcpn to
our west. High temperatures to range from the upper 70s to the
lower 80s.

&&

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Surface high pressure remains in control over our CWA, while a weak
shortwave moves through the Ohio Valley Monday night into Tuesday.
An isolated shower might pass through, but overall, the weak forcing
doesn`t look to be enough to overcome the surface high/ dry air that
will be in place. Overnight low temperatures fall to the low 60s.

Residual cloud cover slowly clears out on Tuesday with highs in the
upper 70s across the north/ low 80s in the south. The middle of the
work week remains dry while the surface high pressure remains over
the region, slowly shifting eastward. We`ll feel a slow uptick in
temperatures and humidity as we continue through the week and flow
turns southerly.

Our next chance for measurable precipitation occurs late week, as a
loosely organized wave moves in from the west. Right now, this
doesn`t appear to be an overly moist system so QPF won`t be "drought
busting" by any means, but we`ll take what rainfall we can.

&&

.AVIATION /18Z SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Cumulus deck will dissipate with the loss of heating. West
northwest winds will decrease towards 00Z and become light
overnight. Conditions look a little more favorable for some
localized visibility restrictions at KLUK between 06Z and 12Z
which could even temporarily lower to IFR. Beyond that just VFR
with increasing mid and high clouds late in the period, with
maybe a few cumulus developing as well.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
