...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1998, late afternoon and early evening severe thunderstorms produced
large hail and strong winds across parts of northwest Kansas. Several counties
reported trees limbs of up to 5 inches in diameter broken as the storms
moved through the area. Two to four inches of rain fell across Decatur and
Rawlins Counties leading to flash flooding along the Sappa Creek drainage.
The flash flooding produced $10K in damage to gravel roads in the area.
