Area Forecast Discussion

...New 00Z Aviation Discussion...

.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Monday)
Issued at 158 PM EDT Sun Aug 11 2024

A moisture boundary remains in place across the forecast area
this aftn -- marked by higher dewpoints and the formation of a Cu
field. Current temperatures range from the mid 80s to low-mid 90s.
Continue to take necessary precautions if outdoors this afternoon!
Check in on vulnerable groups (elderly, children, pets, etc.) and
ensure you`re taking care of yourself. Heat indices may reach
100-103 across east-central GA this afternoon. Thunderstorm
chances will be quite isolated this afternoon (and confined to
east-central GA) given lack of any notable forcing. Skies should
begin to clear out overnight with low temperatures in the 60s to
low 70s tonight. Monday`s forecast will really be a repeat of
today -- warm, party to mostly sunny, and isolated rain/thunder
chances.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday morning through next Saturday)
Issued at 158 PM EDT Sun Aug 11 2024

No significant weather impacts or forecast concerns expected
through the long term period.

Not much change in the forecast large pattern compared with
yesterday. More agreement noted in member regarding troughing
over the eastern CONUS which means much greater likelihood of
current invest well east of the lesser Antilles remaining east of
the CONUS.

Upper ridge slides east a little more than prev runs with warm
temps over the mid-south by Wed. Could see storms to the west on
periphery of upper ridge. Divergence in medium range ensembles
with handling of shortwave (currently off the NWUS coast and
poorly sampled) starting Friday with GEFS members more likely to
intensify low over the MidWest while other models more subdued.
Either way, shouldn`t be too much of an impact here until just
after the 7 day period and future forecasts will improve as
observational sampling of the wave increases.

Near to above normal max temps with below normal to normal min
temps until moisture increases starting Wed with lower diurnal
range and a bit more clouds and precip. Can only dream of max
temps in the 80s with dry conditions. Not much longer I hope.
