229 WGUS83 KDLH 202322 FLSDLH Flood Advisory National Weather Service Duluth MN 622 PM CDT Sat Jul 20 2024 MNC001-210230- /O.NEW.KDLH.FA.Y.0027.240720T2322Z-240721T0230Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Aitkin MN- 622 PM CDT Sat Jul 20 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Aitkin County. * WHEN...Until 930 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry creeks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 621 PM CDT Saturday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3.25 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... West Savanna River, Sandy River, Pokegama Creek, Prairie River, Little Tamarack River, White Elk Creek, Sixteen Creek, East Savanna River, Mississippi River, Willow River and Tamarack River. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Big Sandy Lake, Palisade, Libby, Savanna Portage State Park, Balsam, Sheshebee and Flowage Lake. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and to the National Weather Service in Duluth when you can do so safely.
