Hot temperatures (highs 97-104) and low relative humidities (minimums in the teens with relatively poor nighttime recoveries) will remain through the weekend. With this, expect isolated high- based showers and thunderstorms capable of producing erratic surface winds and lightning to develop during the late afternoon and evening today and tomorrow. Best chance is over the Absaroka/Beartooth Ranges (30-40% coverage). Tomorrow will bring wind gusts 20 to 30 mph and teens RH values to areas west of Billings (FWZ 123-125, W half 126). Additional high based thunderstorm activity is forecast for these areas by late afternoon. Current fire weather indices (Fosberg/HDW) put the most concerning fire weather conditions in the mountains and foothills where fire dangers are moderate, as well as areas west of zone 123 into SW Montana. For now will hold off on fire highlites but will be closely monitoring conditions in these areas through the weekend.
