Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 110 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.5 miles Path Width /maximum/: 400 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 10, 2024 Start Time: 12:59 PM ET Start Location: Town of Aurora near West Falls, Erie County, NY Start Lat/Lon: 42.7118 / -78.6836 End Date: July 10, 2024 End Time: 1:04 PM ET End Location: Town of Aurora near Griffins Mills, Erie County, NY End Lat/Lon: 42.7257 / -78.6608 Multiple spotter reports were received from the West Falls, NY, with first hand accounts of a tornado touchdown on Wednesday. The National Weather Service Storm Survey was conducted this morning, confirming primarily hardwood and softwood uprooted and snapped trees from west of Old Glenwood Road to just north of Mill Road. The track of the tornado became especially wide as it crossed the West Branch of the Cazenovia Creek along Tannery Road. Just before the tornado lifted from the ground along Mills Road, a modern and newly built horse barn was struck, tearing away a portion of the roof and blowing out some of the outer windows. The National Weather Service again extends our thanks to the Erie County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for their assistance on the storm survey this morning. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Fries
