The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  South central Franklin County in northern New York...
  Western Essex County in northern New York...

* Until 415 PM EDT.

* At 316 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northwest
  of Newcomb, moving northeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and powerlines.

* Locations impacted include...
  Lake Placid, Wilmington, Keene, Newcomb, Mount Marcy, Keene Valley,
  North Elba, North Hudson, Upper Jay, Ray Brook, Mount Van
  Hoevenberg, St. Huberts, Tahawus, Mount Van Hoevenburg Recreation
  Area, and Axton Landing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for northern New
York.
