Scattered-isolated thunderstorms ongoing in most zones tonight. A Red Flag Warning is still in effect for this event, calling for gusts up to 50 mph. Thunderstorms are expected to diminish by 10 PM MDT /9 PM PDT/. On Friday, an upper low sets up to our NW and an upper high to our SE, putting us in a region of enhanced southwesterly flow. This air will be very warm and dry, causing a steep decrease in humidity on Saturday and strong winds aloft. The strong winds should mix down to the surface, resulting in a period of especially hot, dry, and windy conditions. There will also be some instability in the airmass, and while we might lack the moisture for thunderstorms, this will create Haines 6 conditions over much of the Idaho mountain zones. Two Fire Weather Watches have been hoisted for Saturday afternoon and evening, one for zones along the NV border for high winds and low RH, and one in the Idaho mountain zones for high winds, low rh, and high haines. All in all, very active fire weather in the short term forecast.
