Today: very dry conditions with gusty winds for most of the area, with the winds being highest in RFW zones. Forecast soundings also indicate exceptionally high mixing heights, being above 10 kft AGL in almost our entire area. This, combined with steep low level lapse rates mark very unstable conditions, with Haines 6 RFW criteria being met over the Idaho mtn zones. Warm and dry conditions continue through early next week. The upper low to our NW and upper high to our SE occasionally drag some moisture to our east and north area boundaries, resulting in a limited lightning risk in those regions each afternoon.
