.Light to moderate rain and snow melt runoff is causing the Chilkat
to rise. Rainfall is beginning to taper off over the Chilkat Basin
with the passing of the front. The Chilkat will crest in the next
hour and begin to drop. Expect continued snowmelt to keep the river
crest from falling quickly.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 AM AKDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.

* WHERE...The Chilkat River in areas around Mile Post 14 and 24 of
  the Haines Highway, near Klukwan, and the Chilkat River Bridge.

* WHEN...Until 430 AM AKDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 726 PM AKDT, river gauge reports indicate rises in water
    levels from an area of heavy rainfall across the advisory
    area. Snowmelt is also occurring and will combine with rain
    to cause minor flooding. Minor flooding is ongoing.
    Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible
    through Monday evening.

  - For Chilkat River at Klukwan:
    At 6:00pm the stage was 126.4 feet.
    Flood Stage is 126.0 feet.
    Forecast: A crest around 126.4 feet is expected Midday
    Monday.
    Water levels are forecasted to go below minor flood stage
    late Monday night.

    Impacts:
    At 126.0 feet: Bankfull stage. Water will begin to flood
    backyards along the Chilkat River in the village of Klukwan.

    At 126.5 feet: Expect flooding of yards and bank erosion near
    the Jilkaat Kwan Cultural Heritage Center Campus Traditional
    Knowledge camp in the village of Klukwan. Water will flood
    lower elevations in backyards along the Chilkat River near
    Klukwan and start to impact some smokehouse and a river
    access road.
