.DISCUSSION...

No major changes to the forecast since the last update. We`re
still under an impressively deep and expansive ridge that won`t
budge for the next several days. Reno Airport`s 100+ degree
streak continued yesterday, with KRNO getting up to 105. That`ll
be the third day in a row, as we expect 6-7 more 100+ degree days,
including today. See our Climate section of the AFD for more
info!

Heat aside, our summertime zephyr breeze will be back each
afternoon through the middle of this week, kicking up winds out
of the west at 15-20 mph. Starting this afternoon and lasting through
this week, hi-res models are picking up on a few light showers in
southern Mono county along the Sierra crest. Shower/thunderstorm
chances look to increase starting as early as Friday.

Looking further ahead, we may finally see some relatively "cooler"
temperatures coming next weekend! The high pressure system that`s
currently overhead is looking like it will finally push off to the
east to allow at least one, if not two, troughs to pass by.
Long range ensembles are hinting at increased winds and increased
PoPs this weekend, so stay tuned this week to get a more detailed
forecast for this upcoming weekend!

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions continue today and tomorrow. Expect routine
westerly winds and gusts up to 20 kts. Pockets of wildfire haze
possible between TVL-MMH, but likely no appreciable visibility
restrictions. Hot temperatures could result in density altitude
concerns for some aircraft each afternoon into next week.
