958 AXPQ20 PGUM 020057 TWDPQ Tropical Weather Discussion National Weather Service Tiyan GU 1057 AM ChST Tue Jul 2 2024 Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar, and meteorological analysis. ...SPECIAL FEATURES... None. ...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS... TUTT... An upper-level trough extends southwest from 25N160E to an upper- level low centered near 15N146E, just east of the Marianas. Numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms are seen west of Chuuk, at the southeast quadrant of the upper low. This feature is also generating a pocket of showers and thunderstorms north of Yap. ...TRADE-WIND TROUGHS... The Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) has weakened overall. Patchy showers southeast of Koror are seen along a line from 3N136E to 5N145E due to a trade-wind trough which is expected to pass south of Koror tonight. Northeast of Chuuk, a trade-wind trough extends from 10N151E to 8N156E producing numerous locally heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms, and is expected to cross Yap State around Wednesday evening. Localized showers are seen northeast of Kosrae along a line from 7N164E to 9N170E due to a trade-wind tough. This trough is expected to pass north of the Kosrae and Pohnpei and possibly bring some showers for the Marianas. $$ Hong
