083 FXZS60 NSTU 020112 AFDPPG Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pago Pago AS 212 PM SST Mon Jul 1 2024 .Discussion... Latest satellite data shows a line of moisture and thunderstorms extending northwest to southeast of the area, while a break or dry patch is seen over the territory; this line is associated with a trough. A high pressure system building to the south will further weaken the trough through Tuesday. Expect passing showers as winds shift from southeast to east during this time. Furthermore, as the aforementioned high pressure strengthens Tuesday through Wednesday, winds are forecast to peak (East Winds of 15 to 25 mph). However, by July 4th winds will gradually diminish as the high pressure moves east. The potential for flooding through Thursday is low at this time. However, a trough developing over the territory Friday night to Saturday may bring an uptick in showers. Meanwhile, winds will decrease near 10 mph for this duration. By Sunday, another high pressure will build from the southwest. This pattern will bring another round of trade winds for the new week. .Marine... Latest observations at the Aunu`u PacIOOS buoy are around 8 to 10 feet due to trade winds. As the week progresses, wave heights will build to 9 to 12 feet Tuesday night and remain through Wednesday due to winds. However, as winds gradually weaken by Independence Day, expect waves to subside through the end of the week. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... Small Craft Advisory && $$ TM
