The areas affected include...
Long Island Sound West of New Haven CT / Port Jefferson NY...
At 900 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from near Stamford Harbor to Oyster
Bay Harbor, moving northeast at 20 knots.
Locations impacted include...
Norwalk Islands, Long Neck Point, Smithtown Bay, Stamford Harbor,
Captain Harbor, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington Bay, Hempstead Harbor,
Saddle Rock, and Penfield Reef.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
