.UPDATE...
Issued 959 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

It looks quiet through at least late this morning. A weak
shortwave on the back side of the remnants of Hurricane Beryl
may kick off a few storms this afternoon, particularly from
Madison westward. Temps will be near normal today, warmest in
the west where there will be more sunshine. In general, the
forecast looks on track for the rest of the day.

DDV

.SHORT TERM...
Issued 245 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

Today through Thursday:

The remnants of Beryl will continue to lift northeastward,
reaching the eastern Great Lakes by this afternoon. Light rain
will continue early this morning over far southeastern
Wisconsin.

A mid level disturbance currently located over Minnesota will
then dig south into Iowa and northern Illinois by early this
evening. This should aid in the development of scattered,
diurnally driven thunderstorms across much of southern and south
central Wisconsin. The greatest coverage will be south and
southwest of the Madison area.

Highs today should top out around 80, with lows tonight in the
low 60s. Thursday will feature similar temperatures, with
another chance (25-30%) for widely scattered afternoon
thunderstorms.

.LONG TERM...
Issued 245 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

Thursday night through Tuesday:

Mid level height rises will limit rain/storm chances Friday,
with PoPs currently less than 15 percent. Highs will be a bit
warmer, with mid 80s expected.

Southerly flow and warming temperatures aloft will help boost
temperatures through the weekend and early next week, with mid
to upper 80s expected Saturday, and highs around 90 on Sunday
and Monday (and potentially into Tuesday depending on the
timing of a cold front). A considerable increase in dewpoints
into the 70s from Saturday afternoon through Sunday will bring
heat index values to near Advisory levels (~100 deg) for Sunday
and Monday.

Rain chances on Saturday may depend on the evolution of
convection over the High Plains Friday night, with some models
hinting at a convectively modified shortwave moving into the
area later Saturday. Additional storms will be possible Sunday
through Tuesday, but with considerable uncertainty regarding
timing and strength at this distance.

.AVIATION...
Issued 959 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

It looks quiet through at least late this morning. A weak
shortwave on the back side of the remnants of Hurricane Beryl
may kick off a few storms this afternoon, particularly from
Madison westward. Precip will wind down this evening, with dry
weather likely overnight as high pressure builds in from the
west. Could see some patchy fog as the high builds in tonight,
especially from Madison westward. There will be a small chance
for showers and storms again tomorrow, mainly in the afternoon.

DDV

&&

.MARINE...
Issued 245 AM CDT Wed Jul 10 2024

The remains of Beryl will reach the eastern Great Lakes this
afternoon. North winds may briefly approach gale force over the
far southern portion of the lake early this morning. Winds will
then ease later today and come around to northwesterly. Winds
will grow light and variable Thursday night.
