140 FNUS56 KMFR 211203 FWFMFR Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California National Weather Service Medford, OR 503 AM PDT Sun Jul 21 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 624... ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 625... ...Enhanced afternoon breezes and low daytime humidities from Wednesday onward could lead to near critical or critical conditions for the last half of the week... .DISCUSSION...An upper level shortwave is passing through the region this morning. The thunderstorm threat has shifted north of the area for West Side locations, but enough moisture and instability will linger east of the Cascades today. This will result in another round of isolated to scattered thunderstorms across the Fremont-Winema National Forest and locations eastward this afternoon and evening. Dry, stable southwest flow returns Monday, with continued hot temperatures, low daytime humidities and typical afternoon breezes expected through mid-week. An upper level trough will slowly pass by to the north around mid-week, bringing enhanced breezes that could result in near to critical for the latter half of the week.
