OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
847 PM CDT Sun Jul 14 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Thunderstorms across south central Wisconsin currently will
continue eastward this evening, likely impacting far southern
Lake Michigan through 06-07Z. Another area of storms across the
Upper Peninsula of Michigan will move southeast across the
northern parts of the lake overnight, generally around the same
time frame. Some storms may be strong to severe, especially over
the southern part of the lake. Gusty winds and heavy rain are the
main threats, although large hail cannot be ruled out. After
storms have passed, west to southwest winds will prevail across
the lake.

On Monday, a cold front associated with low pressure of 29.5
inches moving eastward across Ontario will sink southeastward,
bringing another round of storms to the lake Monday night into
Tuesday morning, some of which may be strong to severe. Breezy
southerly winds will precede the front on Monday, shifting
northwesterly on Tuesday behind the front. High pressure of 30.0
inches then sinks south into the Great Lakes region Tuesday
evening and overnight allowing for quieter weather and calmer
winds for the later half of the week.
