.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1033 AM EDT Wed Jul 17 2024

A mostly quiet morning for the Florida Keys. Dry air that was in
place is slowing exiting stage left. This is being replaced with a
relatively more moist air mass as seen on the GOES Total
Precipitable Water satellite derived imagery. That being said,
there is still dry pockets embedded not only in this moisture
plume but in the mid levels as well. The morning sounding
continues to show a stubborn dry layer present above the boundary
layer to about 400 mb. This dry air is enough that shower coverage
remains limited this morning.

Given the recent radar trends and the persistent dry layers still
present, see no need to deviate from the slight chance PoPs we
have. Meanwhile, broad, expansive Atlantic Ridge will hold steady
roughly centered near 30N, 50W and extend an axis well westward
across the Florida Peninsula. This will maintain east to southeast
breezes across the island chain. Dew points this morning remain in
the upper 70s and we will have to monitor to see if we reach Heat
Advisory Criteria for this afternoon. It`s going to be very
borderline for today so make sure to take extra precautions if you
are planning on being outside for an extended period of time.

.MARINE...

Atlantic ridging will remain across the Florida
Peninsula through the forecast. This will result in gentle to
moderate east to southeasterly breezes across Keys waters. Winds
will tend to surge in the evening and night hours and lull during
the day. Winds may strengthen this weekend as the ridge lifts
northward into North Florida and the southeastern United States.
