...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1989, severe thunderstorms broke out from South
Dakota to Louisiana.  There were 126 reports of large
hail and damaging winds.  In parts of South Central
Nebraska, 4 inch diameter hail hammered North Platte and
southeast neighboring Frontier County.This caused an
unspecified millions of dollars in damage to crops.  In
Oklahoma, thunderstorm winds reached 90 mph in Peggs,
located extreme Northeast Oklahoma.  Tahlequah Oklahoma,
located around 40 miles northeast of Tulsa, was drenched
by 5.25 inches of rain.
