Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves...along with the occasional height of the average highest 10 percent of the waves. GMZ300-081615- Synopsis for High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60 nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays 1043 PM CDT Sun Jul 7 2024 .Synopsis For High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel Out 60 NM including Galveston and Matagorda Bays. Beryl is expected to make landfall as a hurricane very late tonight near the east end of Matagorda Bay. Tropical Storm force winds are already being reported on the Gulf waters, and should continue to expand across all waters tonight as the storm approaches land. Hurricane conditions are expected near the center, and frequent hurricane force gusts can be expected in squalls farther from the center. Seas of 15 to 25 feet are expected over the Gulf waters tonight into tomorrow morning. Hurricane force gusts are likely in squalls. A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for Matagorda Bay and all coastal Gulf waters. Galveston Bay remains in a Tropical Storm Warning. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Monday afternoon. However, squalls may linger through the afternoon hours. By Tuesday and beyond, much lower winds and seas are expected.
