393 FXUS66 KEKA 171128 AFDEKA AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Eureka CA 428 AM PDT Wed Jul 17 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Quiet, dry, and climatologically normal weather is forecast to continue through the work week. Interior temperatures creep back up into the triple digits this weekend. && .DISCUSSION...A cooler trend continues through the work week as troughing persists aloft, with near seasonably normal temperatures each day. The marine layer has deepened overnight as a shortwave exits to the NE, with widespread coastal stratus inundating the coast and near-coastal areas. The marine layer is forecast to compress again Thursday, relegating low cloud toward the immediate coast. Otherwise, coastal stratus continues for the foreseeable future, with a chance of brief clearing each afternoon before the stratus reforms each night. Ridging may build aloft this weekend, potentially bringing a return of triple-digit temperatures across the interior. This feature may be accompanied by another push of monsoonal moisture from the SE, although with little instability chances of convective development look low. && .AVIATION...A passing shortwave has significantly deepened the marine layer this morning, with MVFR ceilings overnight at coastal terminals. These will likely linger through the day today, although some portions of the coast may see some brief clearing this afternoon, then lower again this evening and tonight as the marine layer compresses once again. Stratus will mix out of interior valleys and retreat toward the coast this morning, with VFR expected across all interior areas through the TAF period. && .MARINE...Winds will turn northerly through the day on Wednesday as the ridge builds back. Breezy northerlies will increase build south of Cape Mendocino by Thursday leading to steep seas and small craft advisories for the southern outer waters. These northerlies will persist through the weekend. TRN && .EKA WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... CA... None. NORTHWEST CALIFORNIA COASTAL WATERS... Small Craft Advisory from 3 AM Thursday to 3 AM PDT Friday for PZZ475. && $$ Visit us at https://www.weather.gov/eureka Follow us on Facebook and Twitter at: https://www.facebook.com/NWSEureka https://www.twitter.com/NWSEureka For forecast zone information see the forecast zone map online: https://www.weather.gov/images/eka/zonemap.png
