Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
442 AM CDT Tue Jul 16 2024

Today:

After an active Monday with portions of Iowa having damaging winds,
hail, and even at least one tornado, today will be more tranquil.
Early this morning, there is some fog over eastern Iowa with a clear
sky over much of the rest of the state. Winds are from a northerly
direction with temperatures about 10 degrees lower than this time
yesterday in the middle 60s to low 70s.

As mentioned, it will be more tranquil today, but that doesn`t mean
we don`t have rain or storm chances. There are low chances over
western into portions of northern Iowa as a boundary drops into the
state. Otherwise, a mixture of clouds and sunshine is forecast with
highs in the upper 70s north to the middle 80s south.

Tonight and beyond:

Seasonable conditions will prevail Wednesday through the weekend along
with lower humidity. Highs will be somewhere between the low 70s to
low 80s in this time period. Any rainfall and storm chances are
minimal through the end of the week, though may return this weekend.
