Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
332 AM CDT Sat Jul 6 2024

Today:

Skies were clear over much of the state early this morning, although
there were a few small patches of fog north. Temperatures varied from
the upper 50s to middle 60s heading toward daybreak with light west or
southwest winds.

Little change in the weather is anticipated across Iowa later this
morning with mostly sunny skies, but temperatures should reach the 70s
approaching noontime. Clouds will increase west during the afternoon
however with some chances for showers and thunderstorms as well. Highs
are expected to mainly be in the upper 70s or lower 80s.

Tonight and beyond:

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move through the
state tonight. The severe weather potential is low overall, but a few
strong storms with wind and hail are possible during the evening west,
and locally heavy rainfall is possible southwest. Chances for showers
and a few storms will linger in the forecast Sunday and Monday. Highs
in the upper 70s to lower 80s will be typical across the Midwest into
the start of the coming work week, but highs may rise into the 80s
along the middle Mississippi River Valley Sunday.

The outlook for next week calls for only spotty chances for showers
and storms, and seasonal temperatures and humidity levels.
