PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer to
weather.gov/desmoines/water.

River forecasts include observed precipitation plus forecast
precipitation over the next 24 hours.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall and remain below
    flood stage.
  - Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The Shell Rock River at Shell Rock, or from Flood Creek
  near Clarksville to the Cedar River.

* WHEN...Until late Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 12.0 feet, Water affects S Prairie St.
  At 12.5 feet, Seepage occurs in several basements close to the river.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:45 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 12.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.6
    feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage
    late Saturday morning.
  - Flood stage is 12.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The Cedar River at Cedar Falls, or from the West Fork
  Cedar River to the Cedar Falls-Waterloo city limits.

* WHEN...Until early Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 88.5 feet, Water affects the bike path at George Wyth
  Park.
  At 91.2 feet, Water affects portions of Lake St.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 9:45 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 87.9 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    late this evening to a crest of 91.5 feet early Friday
    afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage Sunday
    afternoon.
  - Flood stage is 89.0 feet.

  power dam to Lehigh.

* WHEN...Until Wednesday, July 10.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Water affects some access roads along the
  river in Fort Dodge as well as in Lehigh.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 13.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to slowly fall, but remain
    above minor flood stage through the week and weekend.
  - Flood stage is 10.5 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Flooding affects streets from S 13th Ave
  southward.
  At 14.5 feet, Water affects houses along W River Dr.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 14.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to continue to slowly fall,
    but remain in major to moderate flood stage into Saturday.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg, or from near
  Graettinger to Cylinder Creek near West Bend.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Closure of Iowa 4 is likely. Water
  threatens some of the airport runways. Water flows into Boggess
  gravel pits.
  At 13.5 feet, Water threatens US 18 west of Emmetsburg as well as
  the Northern Natural Gas distribution plant. Sandbagging
  operations may occur for the sewer plant and wells.
  At 14.0 feet, Sandbagging operations occur for businesses along US
  18 on the west side of town in and near the flood plain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:15 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 13.8 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to continue to slowly fall
    but remain in moderate flood stage through into early
    Saturday.
  - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

  At 15.0 feet, Several evacuations and road closures may occur.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:00 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 14.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to continue to slowly fall
    but remain in major to moderate flood stage through the
    weekend.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
