506 FNUS55 KCYS 062029 FWFCYS Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY 229 PM MDT Sat Jul 6 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF CARBON AND ALBANY COUNTIES... .DISCUSSION... Near critical to critical fire weather conditions have developed across portions of Albany and Carbon counties this afternoon with wind gusts of 20 to 30 MPH and humidity hovering around 15%. This will last through the early evening, after which time a fairly strong cold front will bring cooler temperatures and higher humidity across the area. RH recoveries will be good for most of the area tonight. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are also developing now, and will continue through the overnight hours, though thunder will be limited after midnight. Locally gusty winds are possible near showers/storms. Widespread wetting rains are not likely. Reduced fire weather concerns Sunday due to better moisture and cooler temperatures. Scattered showers will bring a better chance for wetting rains, but this will still be hit or miss. A warming and drying trend is expected through next week, with very hot temperatures possible towards the end of the week. However, winds are should be fairly light through this period.
