516 FXUS64 KCRP 081541 AFDCRP Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX 1041 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 ...New UPDATE... .UPDATE... Issued at 1031 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 Tropical Storm Beryl has moved north of South Texas and the Middle Texas Coast. All Hurricane Warnings, Tropical Storm Warnings, and Storm Surge Warnings were cancelled. These tropical warnings were replaced with Small Craft Advisories across all our local waters, Coastal Flood Advisories along all our coastal counties and the islands, and a High Risk of Rip Currents along our Gulf facing beaches. Overall, conditions will continue to gradually improve across the area. && .SHORT TERM... (Today through Tuesday) Issued at 432 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 Hurricane Beryl has made landfall near Matagorda Texas early this morning and will continue its northerly track this morning. Rain bands continue to affect mainly Calhoun and Victoria counties with heavy rain and gusty winds persisting. Lighter showers are noted through the remainder of the Northern Coastal Bend. As Beryl continues to pull out of the area, associated hazardous weather will exit by later this morning. Wind gusts to 75 mph have been noted in the Matagorda Bay area and at Port O`Connor. As the storm exits, a very warm day is expected across much of the area. With lingering low level moisture, this will lead to heat index values topping 110 in the southern Coastal Plains this afternoon, thus a heat advisory is in effect. High temperatures will top 100 west today with mid and upper 90s for the southern coastal bend. Slightly cooler in the northern coastal bend due to lingering clouds from Beryl through the morning. NBM is indicating low rain chances this afternoon inland of the coast, however think this chance to be minimal so will have silent PoPs. A much quieter night tonight with lows in the mid and upper 70s due to lingering surface humidity. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through next Sunday) Issued at 432 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 After having Beryl to talk about for more than a week now, the long term period is going to seem rather boring - but we`re ok with that. Mid level troughing will remain in place through late in the week and will keep rain chances in the forecast, mainly a diurnal sea breeze situation. Tuesday/Wednesday looks to be a bit healthier of a sea breeze with scattered activity. Later in the week, we`re back to our normal isolated coverage. High temperatures remain at or slightly above normal tomorrow, but drop back a couple of degrees for the latter half of the week, mainly in the 90s. We may need another heat advisory Tuesday for the southern Coastal Plains. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 525 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 VFR conditions will continue across LRD and COT through the TAF period. As for the eastern TAF sites, ALI and CRP may see light showers from the outer bands of Beryl, which could bring wind gusts around 30 knots and brief MVFR conditions through the morning hours. VCT remains closest to Beryl, and showers with gusts to around 40 knots are expected to continue generally through mid morning. However, as Beryl continues to move farther away, conditions will improve. All TAF sites are expected to be VFR by late morning/early afternoon. && .MARINE... Issued at 432 AM CDT Mon Jul 8 2024 Tropical storm Beryl continues to produce tropical storm conditions over the waters. The storm is slowly deepening and could become a hurricane before moving out of the middle Texas waters. Hurricane conditions are possible tonight into early Monday with wave heights up to 17 to 22 feet. Gradually improving conditions can be expected late Monday through the middle of the week. Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms through Monday, with scattered thunderstorms lingering through the end of the week. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
