Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
442 AM MDT Wed Aug 14 2024

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Drier air will be moving over
Colorado today, though low level moisture will remain over the
eastern plains. There will still be scattered thunderstorms moving
from the mountains in the afternoon onto the plains in the late
afternoon and evening, but coverage will be less and the storms
will be less intense than in previous days.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday through Sunday...
Expect isolated afternoon showers at best Friday and Saturday, with
an upper-level ridge bringing much warmer and drier conditions. The
driest conditions, with minimum relative humidity values of 10-15%,
will occur across the lower elevations below 7,000 ft Friday and
Saturday, and generally won`t be collocated with the breezier
afternoon winds, which will mostly be confined to the higher
elevations. Nonetheless, elevated fire weather conditions will be
widespread. A few pockets in the foothills and some of the high
mountain valleys may see near-critical conditions, as gusts may push
25 mph at times with afternoon mixing. Wetting rain potential will
increase modestly again beginning Sunday.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
