The majority of the area will be dry and mild today although a few storms may form over the northeast plains. The foothills and mountain valleys will see widespread elevated fire weather conditions due to minimum relative humidity as low as 12 percent and wind gusts up to 25 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph possible across Park County. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning was hoisted this morning for South Park, in effect 2 to 8 pm. Across the plains, winds will be lighter with gusts below 20 mph and no critical fire weather conditions are expected. Smoke dispersal will be excellent. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday through Wednesday... Sunday will be cooler with increased shower and thunderstorm activity. Some areas will receive wetting rains, most likely on the east slopes of the Front Range. Monday through Wednesday will see a warming and drying trend, with scattered storms over the east slopes and little or no rain elsewhere.
