.The Chilkat River is still running high but it will being to recede
through Tuesday night but more rain is on the way and will impact
the area through Wednesday. This will cause the river to rise again
over minor flood stage by Wednesday night and remain above flood
stage into Thursday afternoon.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.

* WHERE...The Chilkat River in areas around Mile Post 14 and 24 of
  the Haines Highway, near Klukwan, and the Chilkat River Bridge.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 615 PM AKDT, satellite estimates and rain gauge data
    indicate rain and snowmelt are causing minor flooding. Minor
    flooding is ongoing, especially near The Chilkat River. Heavy
    rain will move back into the area Wednesday with additional
    rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.25 inches are possible.

  - For Chilkat River at Klukwan:
    At 5:00pm the stage was 126.8 feet.
    Flood Stage is 126.0 feet.
    Forecast: Water levels are beginning to recede and are
    expected to be below minor flood stage this evening then rise
    through Wednesday to crest around 126.8 feet expected late
    Thursday morning.

    Impacts:
    At 126.0 feet: Bankfull stage. Water will begin to flood
    backyards along the Chilkat River in the village of Klukwan.

    At 126.5 feet: Expect flooding of yards and bank erosion near
    the Jilkaat Kwan Cultural Heritage Center Campus Traditional
    Knowledge camp in the village of Klukwan. Water will flood
    lower elevations in backyards along the Chilkat River near
    Klukwan and start to impact some smokehouse and a river
    access road.

    At 127.5 feet: Lower elevations in backyards along the
    Chilkat River in Klukwan will be underwater, and a river
    access road, smokehouses and storage sheds will flood. Bank
    erosion is expected to increase near Jilkaat Kwan Cultural
    Heritage Center Campus Traditional Knowledge camp.
