954 FNUS55 KABQ 041119 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 519 AM MDT Thu Jul 4 2024 .DISCUSSION... Drier and warmer conditions are expected today. Between 5 and 8 hours of single digit humidity values are expected for areas west of the Rio Grande Valley. A few breezes will also be noted, which will result in elevated to near-critical conditions this afternoon. Across the east, a backdoor cold front will slide southward today. While the front pushes westward through the gaps of the central mountain chain late tonight, showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across eastern NM. Another round of storms is expected in these ares Saturday, but a quieter Sunday is likely. Rather, a round of dry and windy conditions will result in elevated to critical fire weather conditions across portions of northwest NM Sunday afternoon. A stronger backdoor cold front arrives Sunday night, blasting through the plains and gaps of the Central Mountain Chain. This will replenish moisture and set the stage for additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms early next week.
