...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 10 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...High pressure will remain in place over Utah through
the weekend, keeping conditions hot. High based moisture will move
into the area today, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms
this afternoon into the early evening. Given the very dry lower
levels, little if any precipitation with these storms is expected
to hit the ground. As a result, there will be isolated to widely
scattered dry lightning today. For tomorrow, conditions stay hot
but overall coverage of afternoon showers and storms will be a bit
less than today, but isolated dry lightning will remain possible.
The threat of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will
continue into early next week, but with more moisture in the lower
levels there will be less of a threat of dry lightning.
