...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure will continue to slowly
nudge eastward, producing further warming and drying, and
centering over Utah by late Thursday and early Friday. In the
meantime, winds will continue to slowly lighten up, becoming
largely diurnally-driven by Wednesday night. Wednesday and
Thursday will still feature critically low RH during the daytime
and poor overnight recoveries, with the poorest recoveries
expected Wednesday night, barely reaching the upper-teens.

The first hint of a pattern change is on Thursday, with a very
low (10%) chance of high-based showers over higher terrain. As the
high pressure continues to nudge further eastward, moisture will
start to wrap around from the south, producing increasing chances
for dry lightning on Friday, and then scattered showers and
thunderstorms heading into the weekend. The low levels are looking
likely to remain dry, thus gusty and erratic outflow winds and
microburst are possible through the weekend. This will also
increase RH, with overnight recoveries greatly improving by
Saturday night. Daytime RH may still remain critical through
Friday and potentially Saturday as well before finally improving
above 15%.
