428 FXUS64 KSJT 151712 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 1212 PM CDT Mon Jul 15 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 343 AM CDT Mon Jul 15 2024 Upper level ridging centered near northern New Mexico will remain in control of our weather again today, with mostly clear skies and hot temperatures. Our temperatures will warm into the mid 90s to around 103 degrees, with the warmest temperatures from the Concho Valley north into the Big Country. Gusty south winds will develop by late morning and continue through the early evening hours, before diminishing tonight. Overnight lows will also be warm, generally in the 70s. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday through Sunday) Issued at 343 AM CDT Mon Jul 15 2024 Expect mainly hot and dry conditions through Wednesday with highs in the upper 90s to near 105. For late this week through the weekend, a more unsettled pattern will set up across our area bringing a chance of rain. The combination of a weak slow moving upper level trough, PW values of 1.5 to 2 inches, and a cool front will result in periods of showers and thunderstorms. Going with low to medium chance of rain. Any complexes of convection will probably be slow moving due to weak steering flow so locally heavy rainfall is possible. Otherwise, temperatures will be slightly cooler with highs staying below 100. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1212 PM CDT Mon Jul 15 2024 Breezy south winds should continue this afternoon with gusts over 20KT at times, before decreasing below 10KT this evening. Otherwise, VFR conditions expected for the next 24 hours. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
