Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
310 PM CDT Fri Jul 5 2024

.DISCUSSION...
Cooler but more unsettled weather conditions have begun to move into the
region this afternoon, as a weak surface front continues to drift south
through East Texas and North Louisiana. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
will continue this afternoon across much of East Texas, extreme Southern
Arkansas, and North Louisiana, and will diminish from north to south by
early to mid evening, but will still be capable of producing locally
gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall. The front is expected to shift south
of the region late tonight, with much of the scattered storms Saturday
expected to remain south of the region. Isolated showers still can`t be ruled
out across Lower East Texas and Northcentral Louisiana Saturday, but any
additional rainfall will be light. The boundary is expected to wash out by
Sunday, with isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms possible again
by Sunday afternoon. All eyes will be on Hurricane Beryl as it is expected to
make landfall Sunday night along the Lower or Middle Texas coast, before lifting
north across South Texas Monday. Moisture from Beryl will begin to stream
northeast into the region by Monday afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms
increasing over the area that afternoon into Monday night, lingering through
much of Tuesday as the remnants lift northeast through Northeast Texas into
Southwest Arkansas. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible
through mid and late week, as a weak upper level disturbance lingers over the
region. As a result, temperatures will remain near to below normal for much
of next week, with min RH`s higher than normal.
