.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Sunday)
Issued at 1122 AM CDT Sat Aug 10 2024

Dew points are set to fall with the backdoor push of low to mid
60s arriving. The temps are warming quickly, but are slowing the
pace now with decent wind across the region. At 11am, a large
range of low to upper 80s were reported across our Four-States. A
1024mb high over the middle MS River Valley is our dominant player
and will remain so through Sunday. A few high temps needed
tweaking for the graphics to match, but overall no changes to
prelim numbers from the original a.m. issuance. Zones updated
mainly for sky and new graphics too soon. /24/

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through Saturday)
Issued at 339 AM CDT Sat Aug 10 2024

The upper level ridge will slowly migrate eastward and become
centered over North Texas and the ArkLaTex by late Tuesday. In
addition, the region will gradually strengthen. A weak upper
disturbance rotating around the ridge could bring some slight
chances for rain to portions of McCurtain County early Monday, and
southerly surface winds may allow for very isolated sea breeze
convection in our southern zones Tuesday afternoon. However, the
building ridge and strengthening subsidence will generally result
in diminishing rain chances. The prolonged dryness that much of
the area is experiencing will likely continue through at least
Friday.

In addition, the ridge will also bring oppressive heat back to the
region. Daytime high temperatures will quickly warm after Sunday
and most locations will climb into the upper 90s to lower 100s for
the entire work week. After Monday, peak heat index values will
also likely be above 105 degrees areawide through Friday, which
will necessitate Heat Advisories. Heat indices may also approach
or exceed 110 degrees in some locations, especially Wednesday
through Friday.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 611 AM CDT Sat Aug 10 2024

For the 10/12z TAF update...Satellite imagery continues to show
some clouds moving into the region from the northwest this
morning. Surface observations across southeast Oklahoma and
southwest Arkansas are showing SCT to BKN clouds around 4k feet.
For this reason, and also for the expectation of some afternoon cu
development, have mention of some low end VFR CIGs for all
terminals later this morning and into the afternoon hours.
Otherwise, winds will be light and generally out of the north to
northeast. /33/
