Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
1249 PM CDT Wed Aug 14 2024

...New AVIATION...

.UPDATE...
Issued at 1021 AM CDT Wed Aug 14 2024

As of the 15Z hour, temperatures are near or even slightly below
where we were sitting at this time yesterday. Dewpoints continue
their stubborn trend of only gradually mixing out, causing sites
across the ArkLaTex to be reaching Heat Advisory criteria (heat
indices of 105 or greater) momentarily, if not already.
Ultimately, taking conditions thus far this morning fully into
account, no changes appear necessary to the overnight forecast
package. We will see daytime highs climb into the upper 90s to
near or just above the century mark areawide, with the lone
exception of some more elevated sites along the I-30 corridor into
Arkansas who have seen more rain cooling effects recently, and
may "only" reach the middle 90s this afternoon.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1249 PM CDT Wed Aug 14 2024

VFR conditions will continue through the 14/18Z TAF period. A
scattered cu field has developed this afternoon areawide, with
isolated convection possible across portions of SCntrl AR and NE
LA. However, low confidence precludes VCTS mention at the MLU/ELD
terminals attm, and will amend as needed. The cu field should
diminish shortly after sunset, but some residual convective debris
may linger overnight across Srn AR/NCntrl LA before eventually
thinning. Another scattered cu field should begin to develop by
late morning Thursday, with any isolated afternoon mainly confined
to NE LA and especially much of MS. SSW winds 5-8kts this
afternoon will become light S/Lt and Vrb after 00Z. /15/
