SOUTHEASTERN ROANOKE...SOUTHWESTERN BEDFORD...HENRY...NORTHEASTERN
PATRICK AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES...THE SOUTH CENTRAL CITY OF ROANOKE AND
THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE THROUGH 1100 AM EDT...

At 1015 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms
along a line extending from Cave Spring in Roanoke County, to near
Callaway in Franklin County, to Buffalo Ridge in Patrick County.
Movement was east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Runoff from heavy rain may wash debris
         onto the highway from roadside ditches.

and Smith Mountain Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Boaters on Smith Mountain Lake should prepare for strong
gust of wind and lightning. Best course of action is to
get off the lake until the storm has passed.

Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in
ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and
minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning.
