At 1208 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms between Siler City and Goldston, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Pittsboro, Siler City, Goldston, Crosswinds Boating Center, Crosswinds Campground, Harpers Crossroads, Jordan Lake, Jordan Lake State Rec Area, Bynum, and Seaforth Boat Dock. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Boaters on the open water and those camping outdoors are especially vulnerable to the dangers of lightning. Seek harbor immediately and find safe shelter in a nearby building or vehicle. If on or near Jordan Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
