Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
652 AM MDT Fri Jul 5 2024

.Discussion...

The best chance for critical fire weather conditions will be
over the upper Arkansas River Valley and portions of the
Continental Divide on Saturday afternoon. Meteorological critical fire
weather conditions will also be possible over the San Luis Valley
on Saturday, but the fuels are not considered critical. Similarly,
Sunday has a similar outlook. Otherwise, no critical fire weather
conditions are expected after that.

Thunderstorms are expected over the southern Sangre de Cristo
Mountains and the southern I-25 corridor this afternoon into
evening, but afterwards dry conditions last through Monday when
a cold front passes overhead and bringing showers and thunderstorms
to the mountains and the plains. Daily mountain showers and
thunderstorms are expected Wednesday onward.

Excellent ventilation rates are expected over the mountains and
mountain valleys this afternoon, whereas the plains will be Poor to
Good.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
