Routine Fire Wx Fcst (With/Without 6-10 Day Outlook)
Issued by NWS Pueblo, CO
Issued by NWS Pueblo, CO
336 FNUS55 KPUB 141601 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 1001 AM MDT Sun Jul 14 2024 .Discussion... A Red Flag Warning for Dry Lightning has been issued for Lake, Chaffee, and Teller counties, where dry conditions and isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and early this evening. Fire starts from dry thunderstorms will be possible in these areas today! Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible elsewhere across the district today and tomorrow as well, and will likely produce more outflow winds, with gusts up to 50 mph, than meaningful rainfall both days. Relative humidity values in the low teens are expected on the plains today and tomorrow, though winds are expected to remain below critical thresholds. A cold front arrives on Tuesday, bringing a much anticipated pattern change to our area. This will mean a stretch of below normal temperatures through the middle of the work week, and the return of precipitation chances for most locations as well. Monsoonal moisture and upslope flow could mean the potential for heavy precipitation for some locations through the middle of next week as well, though confidence is low at this point. Afternoon smoke dispersions are forecast to be very good or better across the plains today, and fair or better over the high country. For tomorrow, rates are expected to be good or better for most plains locations. Rates over the high country will vary greatly by zone. Please see specific zone details below for more details. --- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds --- COZ220-142230- Upper Arkansas River Valley Including Lake County and Chaffee County- 1001 AM MDT Sun Jul 14 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING... .REST OF TODAY...
