...THUNDERSTORMS, SOME WHICH COULD BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE, EXPECTED
ACROSS GILA...MARICOPA AND PINAL COUNTIES...

At 1243 AM MST, radar indicated numerous thunderstorms across south-
central Arizona.

Conditions are becoming more favorable for the development of
additional thunderstorms. Some storms may become strong to severe.

Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph will be possible with most storms.
Stronger storms may have wind gusts upwards of 40-50 mph.

Locations impacted include...
Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe,
Peoria, Avondale, Casa Grande, Apache Junction, El Mirage, Florence,
Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Coolidge, Globe, Tolleson,
Youngtown, and Superior.

This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 131 and 204.
AZ Interstate 17 between mile markers 195 and 241.
AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 142 and 178.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
