...THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING ACROSS MARICOPA AND PINAL COUNTIES
THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS...

A complex of thunderstorms continue to affect portions of the
Phoenix metro as of 2:45 AM MST. Thunderstorm activity is expected
to continue over the next several hours across lower desert areas of
Pinal and Maricopa Counties, with additional development spreading
westward across Maricopa County.

The main thunderstorm threats will be gusty outflow winds 30-40 mph,
brief heavy downpours, and frequent lightning.

Locations impacted include...
Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe,
Peoria, Surprise, Avondale, Goodyear, Buckeye, Casa Grande, Apache
Junction, El Mirage, Florence, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley,
Coolidge, and Tolleson.

This includes the following highways...
AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 72 and 204.
AZ Interstate 17 between mile markers 195 and 241.
AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 81 and 178.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
